“So I should just do what I want?”

That was the response to yesterday’s email.

Followed quickly by: “Isn’t that what got me into this mess?”

Totally fair. Totally human.

But also... not quite.

See, we’re not robots with one goal. Humans are a glorious mess of conflicting wants, layered desires, and internal plot twists.

You say you want deep, lasting, mind-melting love.

Cool. I’m into it. I can help with that.

But you also want to avoid heartbreak, rejection, and awkward vulnerability. And that—my friend—is where things get sticky.

Because love will hurt you.

Even the good kind.

Even the forever kind.

Ask me how I know.

I’ve been with my partner for over 12 years. We’ve laughed like lunatics, built a life we’re proud of, and also…we’ve broken each other’s hearts along the way.

Not because we’re toxic. Because we have had to learn how to be human together in this crazy world.

So yeah—doing what you want is the path.

But only if you’re honest about what you actually want.

Do you want love… and safety from ever being hurt? That’s not gonna work.

Do you want connection… and complete emotional control? Also not how this works.

One guy commented recently:

“If I do something nice, it’s because I want to. That’s it.”

That guy gets it.

He’s aligned. He’s doing things because they feel true—not to earn points or protect his ego. And that’s what makes someone magnetic.

That’s what makes them a match for the kind of love they want.

So yes, do what you want.

And also?

Know what that really means.

Know what it takes.

Know what it costs.

And be willing to live it anyway.

If you’re ready to sort that out—for real—I’d love to help.
