October 30: Are your struggles secretly turning you on?
Do you have a denial kink?
Not tease and denial (although if that’s your thing, I’m all for it! I actually just taught a class in Jamaica: “I’m Almost There: Edging and Denial in Play.”)
But I mean a denial kink that hurts you.
That soul-level craving to be the one who gives more, who holds the emotional load, who pours yourself out without asking for much—or anything—in return.
OUCH!
SexCoachShannon and I are going LIVE next Tuesday at Noon ET to talk about how she discovered her own denial kink… and what it might mean if you’ve got one hiding under your “I’m fine” exterior too.
Here’s what she shared:
“After reading the book Existential Kink by Carolyn Elliott, Ph.D., I realized I was subconsciously getting off on my ability to do a lot with a little, to offer support without needing much in return, and essentially enjoying surviving my struggle—so much so that I was unconsciously recreating situations where I could continue to quietly suffer not having what I wanted in my life and in my relationships.”
“Leaning into that denial kink—and letting myself actually enjoy it—was hot, gave me power over it, and helped me reclaim my life in huge ways: career wins, deeper relationships, and a lot more honest self-expression.”
Oh, and this?
It’s the first time she’s sharing this publicly.
I’m so damn honored.
She’s the second guest on my new podcast, Hoefessionals (debuting January 6th), and if you’re a member of The Studio, you get to watch these episodes live, including juicy behind-the-scenes chatter and the full Q&A long before they drop to the public.
So I’m asking again:
Do you have a denial kink?
Do you ever feel like you’re stuck in that loop of doing more than you get, but telling yourself “it’s fine” because… well, that’s just what you do?
Maybe it’s time to question that.
Better yet, ask Shannon a question.
Drop it below. Or send it to me directly.
I’ll make sure Shannon gets it during our talk.
Some will even make it into the public release.
Or comment. We’d love to hear what idea this brings up for you.

P.S. And remember: TOMORROW at 2pm ET, I’m going live with Lee Harrington for the very first Hoefessionals recording!
We’re talking all about self-relationships—the kind you actually need to build, and no, it’s not just another soggy sermon about “self love.”
