November 22: What your profile might say (even when you don’t mean it to)

“I’m never angry.”

That’s what his profile said.

And sure, maybe he thought that was an attractive quality.

But when a woman posted it to a group and asked, “Is this a good guy?” I couldn’t help but respond:

“He’s telling you, hoping you’ll believe him that he’s ‘never angry.’ That’s not humanly possible.

So, either he’s a big fat liar…or he’s delusional. Either way, not a good look.”

Swipe left.

Move on.

But for my clients?

I go deeper.

Because these profiles—the ones that look okay but still don’t land—they usually have deeper issues under the surface.

They’re not working for a reason. Not pulling in the right people. Not standing out.

Not translating your actual awesomeness into anything that makes a real human say, “Damn. I want to know more.”

And that’s where my Profile Audit comes in.

When you grab one, I don’t just say, “Eh, too many clichés” or “Bro, why are you quoting Fight Club?”

I actually show you, line by line, what your words are signaling, how they’re being read, and how to shift it so you come through clearly and compellingly.

I’m going to also share with you how I would audit the original profile for a client. Here’s what I would say, unedited: You'll have to listen to the audio for this.

This profile reeked of performative disclaimerism and low-key desperation.

Disclaimerism

He was trying to “tell” women how to read him…instead of being someone worth reading.

Honestly, I would have to have a VERY GOOD FEELING about this guy to take him on as a client with a profile like this.

Because it really presents a not-good-guy attitude.

If that’s something you’ve ever worried you’re doing, even a little, let me help.
