September 28: I'm breaking up with (some of) you.

Today, I’m changing how I do some of what I do.

And since I spend a lot of time my time teaching people to say what they mean, I'm going to practice what I preach.

The biggest change: most of you won't get my text messages anymore.

Starting tomorrow, texts go only to current and former clients.

They cost me a lot of money to send.

You're welcome to keep getting my emails.

But those are changing, too.

If you're not engaged with me (replying to my questions, sharing your stories, poking at my ideas), you'll eventually get dropped.

Now, that doesn't mean I'll stop writing.

In fact, I plan to write MORE.

I'm just going to focus where my joy is, and my joy is with engaged people.

So why the shake-up?

I write nearly every day, and I love it.

But I pay over $200 a month to send you messages by email and text.

And frankly, my clients don't usually come from months of messages.

They find me, book a 15-minute Big Ask, and sign up, usually within a week or so.

Like the client I signed last week.

They'd been following me on FetLife for a while, enjoyed my discussions, and saw my announcement that I had an opening.

They booked, we chatted, and they signed up.

All in 24 hours.

(Which is an AMAZING sign of future success!)

I also prefer spaces that encourage more connected communication.

Actual discussions.

Most of us (me included, honestly) get so many emails that we just delete, delete, delete.

Or we read, nod, and do absolutely nothing.

I call that lurkrastination: consuming advice as an easy substitute for actually changing.

That's not what I want out of my influence at all.

I want to create conversation, to inspire, and to connect.

And I've found that (for me) there are better ways to do that.

So expect more education from me, in person and online, because I always enjoy that.

I have a goal to finish one of my in-progress books this winter.

And I'll be working with my clients, and doing more art.
