September 21: Bliss Boogie taught me something about letting go.

This past weekend, I co-produced my first big outdoor event.

Well.

Produced is generous for what I actually did on the day.

The truth is, I spent three months building Bliss Boogie.

Systems, tech, back-end logistics, the stuff that gets an event to the starting line.

And then on Saturday, I watched almost 300 people move through 10am to 1am, surrounded by nature, deep conversation, and a whole lot of people in various stages of undress, having the time of their lives.

And I wasn't running any of it.

I did teach a class.

I hosted a discussion on nonmonogamy, and said (for the bazillionth time) that every nonmonogamous experience is different from the last.

It'll challenge you in new ways.

It'll frustrate you in new ways.

There's no version you master once and coast on forever.

Turns out, events are exactly like that too.

I've run smaller gatherings for decades.

Indoor, controlled, flushable toilets outnumbering porta-potties.

I've also managed 150-person volunteer crews, but for someone else's already-established, 3,000-person event.

This one was different.

My co-producer Kai, her right-hand Tiffany, and a crew of genuinely extraordinary humans, they were the ones on the ground making it work.

My wheelhouse got us to Saturday.

Theirs made Saturday happen.

There's something amazing about doing the work, and then actually getting to enjoy what you built.

Usually I'm still in charge when an event's already underway.

This time, I got to be (mostly) present.

Teaching.

Watching.

Just there for it.

That's rare.

And I liked it.

I'm still processing all of it.

It was a good weekend.

I learned a lot, and I met a few people I hope to know for a long time.

That's a win in my book.

To everyone who came: Thank you for joining us.

To everyone who didn't: I hope you'll join us next time.

If you've ever poured months into something you built, and forgot to actually enjoy it once it existed, or if that sounds exactly like how you show up in your relationships, let's talk about it.

P.S. Have you ever built something (an event, a relationship, a project) and had a hard time just being in it once it was finally happening?

Hit reply, I want to hear it.
