August 5: A year of "almost" is finally over.

I invited the first ten people into something new yesterday.

A Discord, built for people who want to learn and discuss love, sex, romance, and kink.

Not just another place to scroll and chat.

A place to actually grow.

I've been planning some version of this for almost a year.

And for almost a year, I dragged my feet.

I told myself I was busy.

I told myself I hadn't figured it all out yet, so obviously I needed more time.

Classic stall tactics, and I know them well because I've watched a hundred clients use the exact same ones on their own lives.

But here's what was actually happening: fear.

• I was scared I'd start this and it wouldn't take off.

• I was scared I'd start this and it would take off, in a direction I didn't want.

• I was scared of repeating old community mistakes while somehow forgetting every single thing I've gotten right.

• I was scared I wouldn't have the support to run this without it draining me dry.

And I only realized all of that after the project was ready to go.

Which meant I had to commit and see what happened.

So that's what I did.

Now I'm starting it up slowly.

A handful of people at a time.

First round goes to folks who want real discussion, not just another group chat (there are plenty of those already, no shortage).

I'm looking for people who'll show up, ask questions, share their own experiences, and actually contribute.

Eventually I'll open the doors wider.

There's already a ban list for the folks who won't get even a look.

But first, I want the culture to set.

I want this early crew to get their footing and make good calls before the floodgates open.

Am I doing this perfectly?

Almost certainly not.

But I'm doing it.

A former client of mine used to call this "going ugly early."

I hated that phrase at the time.

Turns out he was right.
