April 8: Someone called me a grifter yesterday…
Someone called me a grifter yesterday.
Well, not exactly. He said I'd "convinced him that coaching was a bunch of hooey" and that by not working with me, he'd successfully avoided a grift.
His words were a bit more colorful than that, but you get the gist.
Here's what I found when I looked at his account:
He's been on my list since April of last year.
He's opened about 42% of my emails.
He's attended multiple workshops.
He has never booked even a free 15-minute call with me.
And he is, by his own very public admission (on Facebook, since that’s how he found me), still very single and very not happy about it.
So. That's the data.
Now, here's what I actually want to talk about:
The difference between the coach I had and the coach I am.
The coach I hired had a path. His path. A path that worked for him, and he packaged it up and sells it to anyone who can afford it.
Cookie-cutter levels of investment. Mostly video content. A monthly hour of "keep grinding."
He's not a villain. He’s genuinely helped some people.
He helped me, too... just not in the way he intended.
See, I'm neurospicy.
My brain does not follow the path. It makes its own. And when his systems didn't work for me the way them was supposed to, I went off-road.
I took the momentum, pointed it somewhere else, and a year later I’m making more than double what I was.
So I'm not even mad about it.
But I know what it felt like to be handed someone else's map and told it would absolutely work for me.
That's exactly why I coach the way I do.
And why I got my Neurodiversity Coaching certification.
I also won't take just anyone.
Some people aren't ready. Some would do better with a book and some breathing room. Some just aren't a fit for me, full stop, and I'd rather be honest about that than take their money.
When I do work with someone, it's one-on-one, every time.
We build around your goals, your patterns, your life. Not mine.
Because my job isn't to hand you my map.
It's to help you find yours.
If you've been sitting on the fence, curious about what working together might actually look like, the Big Ask is exactly where to start.
It's free. It's 15 minutes. And I promise I'll tell you honestly if I think I can help.

P.S. Have you ever paid for coaching, a course, or a program that didn't work the way it was supposed to, when you actually did the work? (LOL! I know that other side, too…)
Hit reply. I'd genuinely love to hear what happened, and what you did next.
