March 27: What happens after the hard work actually works?
I got a message yesterday that made me laugh out loud.
"Gimme TNS," she said, and then proceeded to (lovingly, jokingly) read me for filth because I'd forgotten to mention her and her partner in my last email.
Fair.
About two and a half years ago, she and her partner came to me.
They were opening up their relationship, and it was...not going smoothly. We worked together for eight months. It was real work. The kind that requires honesty, discomfort, and a genuine willingness to look at yourself.
And it turned around. Completely.
One of the most gratifying experiences I've had as a coach.
Here's the thing, though: for a long time after that, they were the last couple I worked with.
Not the first, but the last, until about three months ago.
No dramatic reason.
Just the way life happens sometimes.
I reminded her I'd said "nearly two years" of active clients had been men. She conceded the point.
Then she caught me up on where they are now and I could hear in her words how far away that time feels.
Like it happened to different people. Like another life entirely.
Which, it kinda did..
Because once you shift how you engage with the world—how you communicate, what you ask for, what you refuse to tolerate—the world around you starts to look different, too.
Not because it changed.
Because you did.
And that changes everything you perceive, everything you attract, everything you build.
It's like stepping through the looking glass. Same world. Completely different experience of it.
I have my own looking-glass story. I'll share it soon. But right now, I'm thinking about you and whether there's something in your relationship (or your dating life) that's been rocky longer than it needs to be.
That's exactly the kind of thing we can start untangling in just 15 minutes.

P.S. I've got a weekend ahead full of things that actually fill me up: time with friends, a birthday celebration, some outdoor time, and making art.
What does your version of a genuinely restorative weekend look like? Hit reply — I'd love to hear it.
