March 13: 50 people walked in. One walked out. Here's why I loved it.

Last night filled my cup right up.

Once a month, I host a Mingler.

It’s an in-person mixer I started four years ago because the local community needed a space specifically designed for making friends and connections, not just hookups. So I built one. An event-focused Discord server, real humans, real conversations, real vibes.

Last night?

About 50 people showed up. Sex-positive, some kinky, some nonmonogamous, all there to genuinely connect.

Well, except that one guy.

The one who was clearly there to score, scanned the room, struck out in the first round, and quietly excused himself into the night.

Which is fine.

Perfect, actually.

I'd rather the not-fits self-select out early so the right people can breathe.

And breathe they did.

Smiles everywhere.

Great conversations.

Silliness.

Lovely new humans I got to actually meet.

Then someone walked up to me and introduced himself. Thanked my helper and me for the event. Then mentioned that Tuesday's writing—the one about what to do when your relationship is on the ropes—hit him at exactly the right moment. Because he's in that situation. Right now.

I hate to hear that for anyone.

And also? Knowing I could offer something useful when someone really needed it? That's the thing that gets me out of bed in the morning.

Oh, and he mentioned he's currently reading Take No Sh*t! Because he knows he's a people-pleaser.

And he's done with it.

That's the book.

That's the person.

That's the moment.
