February 19: Tonight, we commit crimes. 😈

I’ve been teaching this class since 2015.

I wrote The Big Book of A$s in 2022.

Which means I have been talking about butts for a very long time.

And do you know what I’ve learned?

Pleasure is political.

Seriously.

Did you know that at one time every single state in the United States had laws against sodomy?

As recently as the 1960s, every state still had anti-sodomy laws on the books, even if they weren’t often enforced.

And today?

Alabama, Florida, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina (where I live), South Carolina, Utah, and Virginia still technically outlaw anal intercourse.

Yes. Even between married people.

In their own homes.

Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas prohibit sodomy between same-sex partners only.

So tonight?

I’ll be encouraging you to commit crimes.

(Kidding. Mostly.)

In fact, if you don’t live in one of those states, I might jokingly suggest a little travel…just to check something off your bucket list.

Or is that your fucket list? 😏

But here’s the real point:

For decades—centuries—bodies have been policed. Pleasure has been shamed. Curiosity has been framed as deviance.

So when you choose to learn your body…

When you explore safely, consensually, joyfully…

When you say, “Actually, I get to decide what feels good…”

That’s a tiny act of rebellion.

And I’ve learned a lot in the last decade.

What works.

What absolutely does not.

How to make it pleasurable as a single person.

How to make it deliciously connective as a couple.

How to do it without fear, without shame, and without landing yourself in the ER with a story you never wanted to tell.
